After reading my previous article, you know the steps of writing a cold email and what a typical cold email looks like. However, there is still one important step in the cold emailing process that we have not yet talked about: finding the email addresses of labs that you want to get research internships in. To detail this, I thought it would be best to make a video. So, I created a short tutorial showing you how to navigate a university’s website to find labs you are interested in and the email addresses of faculty to whom you can send cold emails.
Now that you are fully equipped on how to write successful cold emails and find email addresses of labs and professors whose research you are interested in, you are ready to write your own cold emails! Remember that cold emailing doesn’t not lead to results overnight. Often months of hard work and tens of cold emails that got no responses or only rejections can finally culminate in a singular “Yes” response from a lab — that is the opportunity you have to jump on.
