After reading my previous article about how to get lab research opportunities, you learned that approaching professors and labs at university-level conferences, seminars, and talks can be a great way to potentially find research internships. However, in my previous article, I didn’t address one important question: how and where can you even find these research events? Well, I created a short tutorial displaying my tips and tricks to navigate a university’s website to find upcoming conferences, seminars, and talks.
Now that you are fully equipped to find university-level events to attend at your local university, you can easily begin to attend events and approach professors and labs about potential research internships. Make sure that when you talk to professors and labs that you don’t directly ask them about a research internship position; ask them questions about their research and experiences before you steer the conversation to a potential research internship for yourself. Happy research internships hunting!!
